... because truly being here is so much: because everything here
apparently needs us, this fleeting world, which in some strange way
keeps calling to us. Us, the most fleeting of all.

Once for each thing. Just once; no more. And we too,
just once. And never again. But to have been
this once, completely, even if only once:
to have been at one with the earth, seems beyond undoing.

And so we keep pressing on, trying to achieve it,
trying to hold it firmly in our simple hands,
in our overcrowded gaze, in our speechless heart.

Trying to become it.--Whom can we give it to? We would
hold on to it all, forever... Ah but what can we take along
into that other realm? Not the art of looking,
which is learned so slowly, and nothing that happened here. Nothing.

Perhaps we are here in order to say: house
bridge, fountain, gate, pitcher, fruit-tree, window--

But to say them, you must understand,
oh to say them more intensely than the Things themselves
ever dreamed of existing.

Here is the time for the sayable, here is its homeland.
Speak and bear witness. More than ever ...

Look, I am living. On what? Neither childhood nor future
grows any smaller.... Superabundant being
wells up in my heart.

Point and shoot--North Carolina, March, 2013.

On this day, I felt a surreal sense of timelessness--everything seemed "lit" even though it was all wet and grey. I should have been gloomy. Maybe it was the wonderful food we got in the city the night before, or maybe the color and rhythm danced me awake. Sometimes the mind, in a state of semi-exhaustion, finds something of Spirit and runs on ahead, loose and unafraid across the fields of our gaze. It feels like inner flight...

You understand.  I hope you are all well.

no finality of vision

.

Maren Hassinger, Whirling. Wire and wire rope

I went for a walk over the dunes again this morning
to the sea, ... the walk liberating, I was released from forms,

from the perpendiculars, straight lines,
blocks, boxes, binds of thought
into the hues, shadings, rises, flowing bends and blends

          of sight: ...

Maren Hassinger, Walking

I have reached no conclusions, have erected no boundaries,
shutting out and shutting in, separating inside
      from outside: I have

drawn no lines: as manifold events of sand
change the dune's shape that will not be the same shape
tomorrow,

Maren Hassinger, Wrenching News. New York Times shredded twisted.

so I am willing to go along, to accept
the becoming thought, to stake off no beginnings or ends
establish  no walls: ...

risk is full: every living thing in
siege: the demand is life, to keep life: ...

Maren Hassinger, Remembering preserved rose leaves, cot, pillow

I will try
to fasten into order enlarging grasps of disorder,
widening
scope, but enjoying the freedom that
Scope eludes my grasp, that there is no finality of vision,

Maren Hassinger

that I have perceived nothing completely,
that tomorrow a new walk is a new walk.

The shutter button on my camera broke in Florida last October. I choose to not send it out for repair right away, to stop myself shooting images and use that time for other focusing.  That 6 month period has been like a skip of stones, skimming hop hop hop-ripple ripple across placid water. Time of no-time. Good time. Life time.

                 Hope you are all well.

Peace!

Mr. Beagle Bunny sends you all a snuggle bunny Thank You for the good wishes and Wonderful dog stories.

He still has a dozen purple pills to take, and is in a purple haze (though Jimmy Hendrix hasn't appeared in his dreams) he is asking about a Red pill and a Blue pill that might take him down a better rabbit hole... I said, Go ask Alice.

Small skit of Alice in Wonderland

Today I saw a snake in the grass, rather elegant and striped with a curved pattern, it slithered sidewards away. I wanted to be sure it wasn't poisonous, but laughed because this morning I was singing silly song, "I don't like spiders and snakes... and knew I would see a snake.

Couple years back, a local man stepped on a Copper Head. The snake was a gentleman, didn't even ask an apology, tried to go its own way. Snakes are nice that way. :) But the manly man went stomping on the snake with big manly boots. The Copper Head stood up and bit him right in that delicate place between thumb and index finger. The venom rotted the flesh of his hand almost to the bone. Doctors had to graft skin from the guy's pubic area to save his hand. Now the manly man has a very hairy thumb--and has to wax. :)

How are you doing?
Saw my first humming bird of this season today--tiny
body with breast plate of jeweltone greens hoovering in my window during breakfast. She came back two more times. It has never happened that I didn't receive one daily over the summer. They are usually plentiful. Proof I was a lax, lazy gardener this summer. Perhaps I should show off the weeds I grew. :)

Walking. Nice in the spring--a not quite born spring (maybe i am not quite born yet too), but the preparations are showing. Everything is heightened.

The past few days, so wonderful outdoors. Saw a huge hawk gliding close in the trees; me on the ground full of longing, to float simply in the air like that; to ride invisible currents. To release mind and body, weightless. Wind ruffling up the feathers. The hawk made swooping circles over the trees and then seemed to loop around and around the sun. T o watch the beauty, I put my hand up to cover the sun from my eyes. Then, looking up the hawk appeared to circle my upturned hand. A wonderful, rare perspective. (Not good for eyesight, but worth it.)
