"Unscrew the locks from the doors"

.

light on the river

.
A child said What is the grass? fetching it to me with full hands;
How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any more
than he.
~Whitman

Just to share...
if you ever love sitting through Opera or a Play download this
and listen.  Just spent 37 minutes (a downpour on the roof)
with James Earl Jones reading parts of Whitman's "Song of Myself".

Tomorrow I will play it loud through the house
so it goes out onto the water
and travels bouncing into the throats of buttercups,
wherever they are, shining to open.

Truly, people will listen to this recording 1,000 years from now.

just listening to the first few lines of james earl jones reading 'song of myself' and there's a big lump in my throat. god this touches me to my core... must go get the earphones and listen to all of it. i love this poem. i love walt whitman. i read him and know that i am not alone; a kindred spirit exists...

smile yoga is postponed while this lump resolves itself...

light, airy and poetic-- very touching words.

That you listened to this with rain pounding on your roof must have been mesmerizing... and then in the quiet with the words stretching across the water. Very beautiful. I will listen to the whole poem later. And get out my Walt Whitman books. Thanks for what you give me... roxanne

wonderful, dear mansuetude, i was just thinking about words and how a picture somehow always seems to have more innocence than them - except when they are spoken by a child who learns them (or by a poet, yes).
i'll take your picture of light and this marvelous Whitman quote with me...
